How to lose weight? exercise and diet.?

I am 16 and i am trying to lose weight. I stick to a healthy balanced diet. Protein and fruit and veg with little carbohydrates. I also am jogging about a mile everyday. It is hard for me to go to a gym because i can’t drive and i’m busy studying. Do i do enough to lose a considerable amount of weight if i keep it up?

You should combine diet and exercise for best and fast results.
Choose healthy foods you like and replace unhealthy ones you eat in a day with them. Drink lots of water. Stay away from fat and sugar. Dont eat after 7pm. Eat 5 small meals in day, including snacks, not 3 big ones. Eat grilled and boiled foods, not fried and fastfoods. Here is a sample diet plan;
Breakfast: Slices of tomatoes, a piece of cheese, 4 5 olives, 2 egg whites and green tea
Snack: nuts or fruits
Lunch: Salad
Snack again
Dinner: Grilled chicken, turkey or fish and boiled vegetables or salad
You should exercise for best, fast and permanent results. You can exercise at home easily with a good program. And support it with walkings or runnings.

In about a months worth of time, how long should i run everyday to lose 10 pounds this month?

You should only run about three times a week…

It isn’t exercise that will help you lose weight, it’s a combination of smart eating and exercising…swimming will actually help you better than running…because it’s a full body exercise…

Spend the month watching what you eat…by that, I mean eating small meals several times a day, making sure you’re not starving, making smart decisions and exercising no more than 4 times a week…your body needs rest periods…

also, drink at least 8 – 10 ounces of water a day ( you can supplement it with crystal lite for taste) and that will detoxify your system naturally and without cost to you. It also helps with elasticity in your skin and strengthens nails, hair and revitalizes energy. Make sure to drink approx. one litre about a half hour before running and then drink a litre right after…that will help with keeping energy high and keep you motivated…

However, you could swim everyday without a problem because it’s fun and it’s not hard on your body…if you have kids or can borrow kids, take them to the pool and throw them around for an hour…put them on your back and race around the pool with them…it feels completely weightless; however, when you try to get out of the pool, you have worked your muscles so much that you can barely get yourself out…

Working out every second day and eating healthy, but enough so you aren’t hungry all the time will be the way to lose the weight…

I teach Health and I’m a PE instructor, so this is something I do for a living…I’m also on Weight Watchers and helped my sister-in-law lose 80 pounds in less than a year…the system works…

No matter what I do, I can’t seem to lose weight!?

I work out 5 to 6 times a week – cardio (treadmill and elliptical machine for at least 20 min) do weight training twice a week; do yoga once a week; I walk my dogs 3 to 4 times a week for 30 to 45 minutes; I eat right – mainly veggies, fruit and dairy products and have been cutting way back on breads and pasta; I eat 5 to 6 small meals a day and I drink lots of water.
I still can’t lose weight!

My husband makes a minor change in his diet or workout routine and he loses 2 or 3 pounds within 1 or 2 weeks. I do the above routine for months and nothing changes!

What am I doing wrong??!!??
I am 5’7″ and weigh 164.
I am eating between 1400 and 2000 calories a day. I started eating more often, but smaller meals because I was told that would speed up my metabolism. I now eat about every 2 to 3 hours – usually a fruit cup, a yogurt, peanut butter and celery.

I have had my thyroid checked and it is fine.

As much as I hate to say it, and as much as you probably don’t want to hear it, some people are genetically predisposed to being heavier. That’s not saying you can’t lose weight, but you will have to work harder at it than your husband.

Here’s a strategy: I assume you have a fair amount of free time (judging by your diet and exercise schedule), so let’s take some of that time and do some math. A healthy adult female should consume roughly 2000 to 2500 calories per day. I’ll let you do the research on this to get an exact number. You should never dip below 1400 per day. The reason I cite these figures is that based on your mainly fruit and vegetable diet I have concerns you are actually doing more harm than good with the strict diet. If you are consuming a lot more than you are intaking each day, you may in fact be slowing down your metabolism. And if you understand metabolism, you can see what this does to weight loss.

A reasonable and healthy goal for weight loss is ~2 pounds per week. Given that 3500 calories lost is 1 pound, calculate your caloric needs and how much you are burning, and go from there!

Good luck, and remember; the key to reaching any fitness goal is persistence and dedication.

Strategies to make your weight loss diet program work

There are so many Weight Loss Diet Programs that you can use to lose weight.  The question is which of the many available programs are efficient and suitable for you?  The best weight loss program should be natural, not straining and effective within a period of time that you wish to lose weight within. 

Every program you come across probably claims it is the most suitable and guarantees that you will lose pounds in a matter of days or weeks.  Most overweight people have to endure frustration and constant trial and error with the so called dieting programs.  However, they are partly to blame because the are some vital points that need to be considered when choosing the most appropriate dieting plan to cut your weight the natural way.  These factors include: 

i) Food intake – Many types of food are good for your body.  However, there are certain food types that are not helpful for people seeking to cut down on calories intake.  Whichever dieting plan you choose to take, make sure that there are lists of foods that will be good for you during and after the dieting period as well as foods that you should stay away from. 

ii) Regular exercise – To lose weight, you will need to engage in activities that will use up energy stored as fats in your body.  These exercises should be carried out regularly unless otherwise instructed in the dieting manual.  Some exercises like cycling and weight lifting cannot be carried out on daily basis at first but with time as the body adapts to the new program, the sessions and frequency can be increased. 

iii) Simple exercises – Even when you are not training, take part in simple exercises that will make you use energy.  For instance, at the shopping mall you can use a basket to shop instead of a trolley.  You can jog to the car instead of walking slowly.  These exercises may not seem to amount to much but with time, they may be responsible for you losing 3 to 5 pounds of fat. 

iv) Avoid salt and starch – Cut down on your consumption of salt and starch during the weight loss program period.  Salt not only causes diseases that cannot be determined outright, it also reduces the amount of water retained in your body.  Foods that have plenty of sugar, processed food, animal fat and preservatives also hamper your weight loss program and you should cut down on their consumption. 

v) Drink a lot of water – You should drink lots of water during and even after the weight loss program.  Water assists a great deal in washing out debris from your body and has been proven to contribute immensely in increasing the metabolism rate, which results in weight loss. 

vi) Eat healthy – In this case, healthy means quality not quality.  You should take more fruits and fibers in your meals and reduce on the meat and fats you take.  The quantity of fat or calories you take in your food should be less than a third of all the food you take.  The rest should be balanced including lots of protein, vitamins etc.

Lose Weight For Your Wedding

With a quick look over at the calender it dawns on you that your wedding date is just around the corner and in order to fit into that dress you need to lose weight.  The good news is that there are ways to drop a few pounds over the next couple of weeks that will not become a major pain in the butt.  During this article we will explore the Lose Weight Quick strategy so you will be ready for your big day.

Right off the bat the first thing that you need to do is take a hard look at your diet and make a list of items that have to go.  Substituting water with soda does not sound like much on paper but in reality the average pop can is worth a couple of hundred calories each time you drink one.  Since we are limited to the amount of time available for the most part all restaurants are off the list as we need to know exactly how many calories that are being consumed for every item that goes into your mouth.  I know that this sounds terrible and it is not something that I would recommend for a long term diet but in order to drop those extra pounds some sacrifices are going to have to be made.

Now everyone knows that in order to lose weight the basic principle is to consume less calories than you consume and the best way to do this is through exercise. If you want you can go pay for a gym membership for the month or you can concentrate on a exercise program at home based around the concept of high intensity.  The high intensity exercise program only takes half an hour to complete including a warm up and a cool down period.  The high intensity program works like this:

Warm-up for 3-4 minutes at a fast walk or light jog

Interval 1 – run at 8.0 mi/hr for 1 minute

Interval 2 – walk at 4.0 mi/hr for 1.5 minutes

Interval 3 – run at 10.0 mi/hr for 1 minute

Interval 4 – walk at 4.0 mi/hr for 1.5 minutes

Running is the key exercise in the example but if you are like me and have knees that should be on an eighty year old than running can be placed with any form of exercise that you are able to go full at it like cycling, rowing or even Nintendo Wii.  Due to the type of impact this program will have on your body the results come very quickly.  Aim for four times a week and you should be set.
